[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Crossing the finish line in St. Lucia on Thursday morning, was the Max Klink’s Knierum 65 Caro setting a new ARC record.  Sailing across the Atlantic from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Rodney Bay in 10 days, 21 hours, 25 minutes and 10 seconds, this eight-man crew was delighted to break the record previously held by Maxi Capricorno.

This year also saw the introduction of ARC +, a new route departing from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria two weeks ahead of the traditional ARC start and including a stopover in Cape Verdes. Even in this case, amazing results were achieved with the Outremer 64’ Malisi (AUT), the first ARC+ boat to arrive in St. Lucia, performing a fast 2100NM passage from Mindelo in the Cape Verde Islands.

Organized by World Cruising Club, the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers is the largest trans-ocean sailing event in the world and regularly attracts over 200 boats of varying sizes to sail 2700 nautical miles. The event starts at the end of November and ends before Christmas in Rodney Bay, St. Lucia.
