Saint Lucian Carnival Season Open!
As weeks go by, Saint Lucia continues to enjoy the Carnival Season, one of the most anticipated festivals for the year. Each community embraces their culture differently as Masquerade bands, Music Trucks and Spectacular Costumes are put on display. This is the time Saint Lucia usually becomes ‘Fully-Alive’.
Expect a Grand Opening where the music and arts pioneers put on a great show. The Saint Lucia ‘Carnival Experience’ is enjoyed by many; with Carnival Queen Shows, Monarch Shows; both Calypso and Soca, and down to the J’ouvert ‘A break of dawn’ straight to the much enjoyed two-day National Festival. This year there is a new buzz in the air with the Rebirth of what is referred to as ‘The Dennery Segment’, a music genre where Kuduro mixes with Soca, more commonly sang in Creole. . If you’re strong enough, you may be able to survive the events with little to no Sleep at all.
On the Monday and Tuesday of Carnival, 17 and 18 July 2017, expect vibrant streets with Colorful costume bands, Old Mass and modern carnival revelers; of all ages. Revelers dance to the beat of fine, rhythmic strands of all music genres in the Streets of Castries.
Each day, revelers commence their annual ‘Bacchanal’ at 11:00am and end at 7:00pm. You can only describe it, if you have experienced it; Why not this year? So, Try out the Saint Lucian Carnival Experience this year and create memories with friends for 2017 in Saint Lucia.
