“Incentive Travel in St Lucia is an effective tool of inspiration, offering motivation and reward for employees….”
The prosperity of a business is determined by the dedication and efforts of its employees. Like every other successful company; managers look forward to rewarding their staff at the end of a financial year. In 2017, Barefoot Holidays, a Saint Lucian owned Destination Management Company, was presented with the task of motivating a tyre sales team of 140 persons with a Caribbean experience. The answer was found in an exhilarating, one day, Jeep Safari Treasure Hunt incentive program in St. Lucia.
The participants sailed the beautiful waters via private boat vessel into Pigeon Island Historical Park day. They were overly excited as they waited to board the 4×4 jeeps to start an adventure safari of a lifetime. The group was split into teams named after communities on the island. Each team was given a bag containing a map, a guidebook, a clipboard with the program and a score sheet. The adventure began with the teams rushing out with excitement to find clues for their next stop.
The participants along with their multilingual guides, hopped onto open back safari jeeps to explore rural communities. The jeep safari treasure hunt afforded them the opportunity to sample local fruits, cross rivers and marvel at beautiful island vistas. The activities required lots of thinking, team work, good memory, use of five senses and good communication between St. Lucian people and participants. This was because the teams had to identify items that were not native to them such as birds, trees and fruits. A team scored points by completing goals, answering trivia questions and returning treasures found along the route.
The escapade culminated with awards ceremony and a memorable gala dinner where the teams savored our Caribbean cuisine and enjoyed the lively entertainment. This event was an excellent opportunity which brought out the best team building and friendly competitive sides in participants whilst giving them a unique chance to get to know the island and the people.
