[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]After hosting a very successful 2013 Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC), tourism officials in Saint Lucia welcomed yet another major international sailing event. A Russian Business Sailing Regatta began here on 23rd March and is to become another major event on the island’s calendar. The event involves five days of activities, including a sailing race from Martinique to Saint Lucia, sightseeing tours and entertainment events to be held in Saint Lucia this year.
The island regards this as a new frontier seeing that Russia is a big player in geopolitics and this will help to reposition the island’s yachting product. This experience provides an excellent opportunity for Saint Lucia to nurture relationships with over 70 high profile Russian business personnel and in turn for the Russian Visitors to be introduced to the island and explore investment venues.
The Regatta is held once a year and five have taken place since 2006 – in Antigua and Barbuda, Guadeloupe and Dominica. This sailing event holds tremendous potential for Saint Lucia and is likely to boost the tourism sector which can result in positive economic spin offs over time.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
